Day 22 — Peace in the Waiting: When God Whispers “Be Still”

Christmas Series — Grace for Moms

A Quiet Moment I Didn’t Expect…

Last night, after everyone finally fell asleep… the house was silent.

No cartoons playing.

No dishes rattling.

No little feet running.

Just quiet.

And in that quiet… I sat on the couch with a blanket and looked at our Christmas tree.

It was glowing softly — tiny lights twinkling — and suddenly, I felt something I didn’t realize I was missing:

Peace.

Not the absence of noise.

But the deep, steady kind that settles the heart. 🤍

Moms don’t get that often, right?

Life feels like a constant run — cooking, cleaning, schooling, healing, praying, fixing, managing, holding everything together… and sometimes holding ourselves together.

And yet, in that moment, God whispered to my heart:

“Be still. I am here.” 🌟

Maybe… He’s whispering the same to you.

📖 Bible verse:

“Be still, and know that I am God.”

Psalm 46:10

Short. Simple. Strong.

A verse we know — but rarely live.

💛 Why Peace Feels Hard

Let’s be honest for a minute…

Peace is easier to talk about than to practice.

Especially when…

🌀 finances feel tight

🌀 our child is struggling

🌀 health is uncertain

🌀 relationships feel strained

🌀 anxiety whispers in the dark

🌀 the future feels blurry

And we say things like…

“I’ll feel peaceful when life is calm.”

“I’ll rest after this season is over.”

“I’ll be still when things get better.”

But God invites us to peace in the middle of it.

Not after the storm.

But within it.

Not when everything settles.

But while nothing makes sense.

🌟 Christmas Teaches Us This…

The world expected a dramatic Savior —

a King with armies and trumpets.

But instead…

He came as a baby. 👶✨

In a manger.

In silence.

In stillness.

Under a quiet sky.

Peace arrived

—not with noise—

but with presence.

Not with fireworks.

But with faith.

Not with answers.

But with assurance.

💭 Can I ask you something?

Where do you need peace today?

🌿 A decision you fear to make?

🌿 A prayer you’ve repeated for months?

🌿 A situation you cannot control?

🌿 A relationship that needs healing?

🌿 A fear that keeps returning?

Close your eyes for a moment.

Breathe.

Now hear this:

✨ You don’t have to carry it alone.

✨ You don’t have to solve it tonight.

✨ You don’t have to fear what’s ahead.

Because…

Peace is not the absence of problems.

Peace is the presence of Jesus.

And He is with you.

Right now.

Right here.

🕊️ Three Things Peace Teaches Us

1️⃣ Peace is a Person, not a feeling.

You don’t manufacture peace.

You receive it.

2️⃣ Peace shows up before solutions.

God gives peace in uncertainty.

3️⃣ Peace protects our hearts.

Even when circumstances don’t change.

Prayer for Today

Dear Jesus,

Teach my heart to be still.

Show me how to rest in You — not just when life is easy,

but when life is overwhelming.

Quiet my mind.

Calm my worries.

Fill my home with peace that only You can give.

Amen.

📝 Today… take just five minutes

no phone, no chores, no noise and whisper:

🌿 “Lord, be my peace.”

Do it while:

✨ folding clothes

✨ rocking your baby

✨ cooking dinner

✨ sitting in traffic

Be still — even if life isn’t.

With love,
